You can choose to (1) respond to both topics in two essays (the length of each essay should be no less than 1000 words in response to each of the two topics listed above) or (2) respond to only one topic in one essay (the length of the essay should be no less than 2000 words in response to one of the two topics). Remember that this is an exercise in synthesis and argument. You must have a clearly identifiable thesis statement that forms the basis of your essay(s).
2. Note that you need to think about the course AS A WHOLE and to draw evidence from lectures and readings to support your argument. This is the most significant dimension of the take-home exam. You will not pass this assignment if, for example, all your examples are drawn from only one reading.
In each of the two 1000-word essays, you should use at least two sources listed in the syllabus.
In your 2000-word essay, you should use at least four sources listed in the syllabus.
