Research Paper, Macro & Micro economics
Study the world economy and choose three foreign country or region funds(notindividual stocks, not country major stock indices, nor mutual funds that invest mainly in the U.S. financial assets) that you think will outperform others during this semester. These funds can be the open-end, closed-end, or exchange-traded country funds. If you choose country funds, no two funds should be investing in the same country. However, they may be investing in the same region.
An open-end fund is a mutual fund whose price is determined by its underlying portfolio at 4 p.m. daily when the NY Stock Exchange closes. A closed-end fund is a mutual fund whose price varies like a common stock, determined by market demand and supply. Although the value of a closed-end fund rests on the portfolio that the fund possesses, its market price may be higher (at a premium) or lower (at a discount) than its per share portfolio value. The
exchange-traded funds (ETFs), whose values are based on certain underlying indices, are gaining popularity in recent years.
2. Write a written report explaining why you chose the three investments. The report should be typed in double space and no more than three pages in length.
