6:36W4= AshFigure 1. Procedure for proximate analysis Practical ReportTo receive the mark for this component, the students must attend thepractical class and submit a practical report. If any one of these twoconditions are not met, students will receive zero (0) mark of thiscomponent of the assessment. Only those members who attended thepractical class must contribute to the practical report.At the end of the practical class, all the group members togethermust complete required calculations and take a copy of all theworkings and observations. Following the completion of practicals,each group must organise time (one report per group), when theywill meet to write up the practicals.Each member of the group must contribute towards the writing ofthe report. Clearly explain the role of each member both in the fieldand while writing the report in the introduction chapter of the report.If there is no contribution from a particular member of the group,that person’s name must not be included in the report.The report must be written as an Engineering report:While preparing the report, strictly follow the marking criteria givenin the Learning Guide (LG). Also, please follow the below formattingguidelines while preparing he report.• The report must be written in the third person and past tense.• Maximum length of the report: 10 pages excluding title page, tableof contents, references and appendices. You may use thefollowing formatting: A4 page, 1.5 cm margin all around, Arial11 pt font and single spacing.• References must be quoted and listed as per the School’srequirement. The School’s referencing requirement is Harvard(Author, Date) Style. A UWS Harvard Referencing Style Guidehas been produced by the library:https://library.westernsydney.edu.au/main/sites/default/files/pdf/cite Harvard.pdf• Include the actual “Observation Sheets” in the appendix. Duringthe practical class keep the observation sheets neat!! Do notrub out errors just put a single line through the error and writethe revised reading above it.Report SubmissionThis report must be submitted using the Turnitin link on VUWS by12.00 noon Friday the following week. For example, if the practicalclass is held Monday of this week, the report is due on the Friday ofthe following week. That is, you will have about 11 days to prepareand submit your report. For details on Turnitin submission, refer tounit’s VUWS site.The report must be attached to a “Cover Sheet” signed by all groupmembers that they have contributed to the practical and to thepreparation of the report.
