The area was demolished in the 1970’s to make way for the Georgiaviaducts.Now with the viaducts removed the area will be developed and called Hogan’s Alley Block. The block isat the corner of Main St. and Union.Details: Site infrastructure – install necessary, electrical, gas, sewer and water Construct social housing building bordering Main St. -10 storeys with ground retail Construct market-housing condo tower bordering Prior and Gore Avenue – 15-storey withground retail. Build civic plaza between buildings with children’s water park and Hogan’s Alley memorial inmiddle  Construct new Hogan’s Alley Community Center corner or Union and Gore Host Hogan’s Alley Memorial Day and festivities on grand opening of social housing towerScenario #2New Trucks-only border Crossing to USA – East of Pacific Highway 176 StreetCrossingDue to significant car congestion at the Pacific (176 Street) Border Crossing, the federal Government hasdecided to construct a new commercial vehicle only border crossing. This crossing would be purposebuilt only for commercial vehicles – any passenger cars would be denied entry and turned around totravel to another border crossing.The new Border crossing would be on 184th street, just east of 176. At 8th Avenue, trucks heading southon 176 would turn east onto 8th, then south onto 184. These roads would be significantly upgraded aspart of the project scope. The US Government is fully committed to this new crossing and will constructthe crossing on their side to meet the deadline on the Canadian side.Crossing will have: 4 lanes into the US Duty Free shop for US bound trucks Large vehicle inspection areas for trucks entering into Canada Security measures – Xray machines, scanners, security barriers, etc.Deliverables: Widen 184 Street from 8th Avenue to the border plus bike lanes Upgrade intersection of 184 and 8th – with traffic signal, sidewalks and pedestrian crossings Construct new border services building Construct border lanes, lighting, security/inspection systems Erect signage along key roads advising of new truck crossing, including some of the electricprogrammable display signsLaunch awareness campaign for truckers and general public Your consulting group has been retained by the federal government to develop the complete projectplan for this important and much needed initiative.Scenario #3BCIT New School of SpaceBCIUT has recently acquired the HR MacMillan Space Center (Vancouver Planetarium) from the City ofVancouver and will sue this site to establish their newest focused school – dealing with Space relatededucation. This building converts water into steam that is then piped along Georgia Street to downtownbusinesses. Due to rising energy costs it is now financially viable for the steam plant to significantlyexpand its operations.Details: Construct a second plant behind the existing plant Connect new plant to existing systems – water and natural gas intake, electricity and existingand new piping systems Construct an underground pipe system to link the new plant to Rogers Arena and BC Place Extend the current piping system from Georgia and Thurlow into Coal Harbour and link to highrise residential towersImplement a traffic management and safety system around steam plant along areas of newpipingLaunch a consumer awareness and marketing plan to attract new clients who would purchasesteam heat Steam heat is seen as environmentally friendly and the City of Vancouver endorses this expansion planand will fast-track any required permits or rezoning.
