Objectives and content – The objective is to give basic knowledge about signals used in transmission systems, transmission channel related distortion, generally utilized signal processing methods and their significance in transmission. – Deterministic and random signals and their filtering. Correlation functions, Fourier transform and spectrum. Noise and interference in transmission. Analog modulation methods. Sampling and pulse modulation. Introduction to digital transmission. Basics of information theory. Transmitter and receiver architecture fundamentals. – The course includes lectures, classroom exercises, Matlab exercises, project works, and exam (this year exam is not necessarily required to pass the course, see more information in bonus points sectio
