Health and SafetyIf you have any health issues that may be of concern for an assessment, please speak to your instructor before attempting. If at any stage, you become unwell during an assessment please inform the Instructor.Your health is always more important, a re-assessment can be arranged.Assessment MethodsStudents will be assessed using various methods of assessment, from practical observations, theoretical knowledge, Case Studies & Documented Discussion. Some questions may be multiple choice; some will require you to write your answer – where written answers are required please write clearly and legibly. All Assessments MUST be completed with a Black or Blue Pen – Students Do NOT use RED PEN,(unless stated or required by regulatory requirements)If at any point, you are unclear of the instructions for any assessment please ask your instructor or trainer for clarification and explanation. In a multiple-choice assessment if you wish to change your selected answer simply cross the Circle you originally placed and circle the correct selection. See example provided.Example: Assessment OutcomesIf you have not satisfactorily completed either a Theoretical or Practical Assessment the instructor may request that you undertake the complete exercise again, or ask you to repeat a portion of the exercise.Theory assessments where a student has not answered correctly the Instructor may ask the question verbally or provide an alternate question covering the same aspect of evidence. Both the Question Asked and Answer Provided MUST be documented on this Student Assessment Pack next to the question being reassessed.UNLESS STATED: ALL QUESTIONS MUST BE UNDERTAKEN AND CORRECT FOR COMPETENCY TO BE AWARDED.Practical Assessments are limited to 2 additional reattempts, where a 2nd reattempt is required it cannot take place on the same day as the original and 1st additional reattempt. If a student does not show satisfactory outcome to a practical assessment or a proportion of a practical assessment after the completion of a 2nd reattempt the student will be graded as Not Yet Competent. The student will not be awarded the unit of competency or where the unit forms part of a qualification, the qualification will not be awarded. The scheduling of the 2nd reattempt will be at a time of agreement between MILCOM Institute and the student. The 2nd reattempt cannot be on the same day as the initial and 1st reattempt.Completion of AssessmentThe student must complete the learner declaration on the last page to validate this assessment.Outstanding WorkIf a student has not submitted all required work for assessment before the end of the subject the instructor will nominate a ‘due date’ for the work. If no due date is provided by the Instructor, then a standard 21 calendar days is implied. If a student fails to submit outstanding work by the due date the unit may be graded as Not Yet Competent. Statements of Attainment, and where these units, form/are part of a qualification, then the qualification cannot be issued, where units are marked as ‘Not Yet Competent’.Student Signature: ____________________________ Date: //20___I have read, understood and agree to the above instruction TABLE OF CONTENTSTABLE OF CONTENTS 4ASSESSMENT INFORMATION 5ASSESSMENT INSTRUCTIONS 6STUDENT ASSESSMENT AGREEMENT 7ASSESSMENT TASK 1 COVER SHEET 8ASSESSMENT TASK 1: WRITTEN QUESTIONS 9ASSESSMENT TASK 1 INSTRUCTIONS 11ASSESSMENT TASK 1 CHECKLIST 13ASSESSMENT TASK 2 COVER SHEET 14ASSESSMENT TASK 2: NETWORK ARCHITECTURE DESIGN PROJECT 15ASSESSMENT TASK 2 INSTRUCTIONS 16ASSESSMENT TASK 2 CHECKLIST 19 Assessment Information The assessment tasks for ICTTEN611 Produce an ICT network architecture design is included in this Student Assessment Tasks booklet and outlined in the assessment plan below. Furthermore from next year the company will also run live webinars so as to facilitate access to professional development regardless of location. These will be held every two weeks and be facilitated by the senior consultants. Currently the company is located in Sydney CBD. However, due to growth and an increasing number of clients in that city, the company has leased a floor of a building in Melbourne CBD where it will mirror the operations of its Sydney office. The company requires a network architecture that will link the two offices. Complete the following activities: Identify client needs. The first part of this assessment requires you to meet with the client (your assessor) to discuss their needs in relation to the ICT network, as well as the specifications for the proposed network. At the meeting, you will need to:• Discuss needs in relation to the ICT network. This should include: Business requirements i.e. the nature of the business and ICT requirements Objectives in relation to the ICT network Business specifications, including budget and timelines Problems associated with current ICT network Opportunities that will be created by the ICT network. Take notes during the meeting. During the meeting, you are required to demonstrate effective communication skills including:• Speaking clearly and concisely• Using non-verbal communication to assist with understanding• Asking questions to identify required information• Responding to questions as required• Using active listening techniques to confirm understanding Develop ICT Network Architecture Design.Following the meeting you are to develop the ICT Network Architecture Design as per the discussions held at the meeting. Determine the technical requirements of the ICT Network Architecture Design, including hardware, software and network elements as per the specifications provided at the meeting. Then develop a diagram of your proposed design. Document your findings and diagram in Preliminary ICT Network Architecture Design Report. Your report should include: • A summary of the outcomes of the meeting with the client including: Business requirements i.e. the nature of the business and ICT requirements Objectives in relation to the ICT network Business specifications, including budget and timelines Problems associated with current ICT network Opportunities that will be created by the ICT network.• Diagram of the proposed network design.• An outline of the hardware, software and network elements that will make up the design, as well as potential suppliers of, and costs of each of these elements. Include at least two recommendations for each hardware, software and network element you recommend and associated technical specifications, as well as costs.• Likely impact of the network design on the business requirements.• Predicted current and future traffic demands and how the network will perform based on these forecasted demands.• Assessment of how the proposed network design will meet required performance, including target data rate and avoiding interference and any other factors as per the meeting discussion. Use Preliminary ICT Network Architecture Design Report Template to guide your work. Submit your Preliminary ICT Network Architecture Design Report to the client (your assessor). You will be provided with feedback, which you will use to finalise your report. Finalise ICT Network Architecture Design. You are required to incorporate the feedback from your assessor on your preliminary design and incorporate this into your report. Complete a final check on your ICT Network Architecture Design to ensure it meets all performance and business requirements. At the same time you are to complete the following additional activity: • Determine the support and training requirements that will be required to ensure your design is implemented as effectively as possible. Add a section to your Final ICT Network Architecture Design about the support and training that will be required. Submit your Final ICT Network Architecture Design Report to the client (your assessor) via email. In your email you should request approval of your final design.
