Complete section (Brainstorming)
Can you do task 4 from this work.
Task 4. Brainstorming session to identify consequences that need to be managed in a field trial.
(As noted in the chapter Exhibit 7 Risk Context these matters discussed above provide the basis for establishing risk criteria that are part of the risk context, including:
the nature and types of consequences that may occur and how they will be measured
how consequences is defined in the consequence assessment
how likelihood is defined in the likelihood assessment
how the level of risk is evaluated
More about establishing risk consequence criteria
Defining the nature of harm and the level of harm is the central element in establishing the risk consequence criteria
Harm to the environment includes:
toxicity to desirable (valued) organisms that should be protected
loss of biodiversity, including loss of species diversity or genetic diversity within a species
adverse impact of a new more serious weed, pedestal pathogen
 disruption biotic communities
 degradation of the abiotic environment
Question testing ability to define and use relevant risk criteria for completion by students as part of task 4.
Recapping
The scenario:
You are in a seed company preparing for a field trial of a new variety of herbicide tolerant canola to be grown on a contracted farmer’s fields near Dimboolah, Victoria during the 2018 winter growing season. The field experiments will occupy 50 m times 100 m in area for the test planting itself, and this area will be surrounded by an appropriate zone for control of potential plant and pollen propagation.
After reviewing these nominated Exhibits about the canola field trials, consider the scenario posed in red, and get-together in a group brainstorming session and attempt to identify consequences that need to be managed in carrying out the field trial on this farm.
