1820620 Case Study Assignment CS 1 Doris and John Chandler Doris is 80 and she is the main carer for her husband John who is 83. They arrived in the UK from Indian in the 1950’s. They saved up and bought their home in the late 1970’s. They have one Son who passed way due to cancer. Their Daughter-in law, Suzann is their next of kin who very rarely visits but manages their finances for them. John has Multiple’s sclerosis and is unable to care for himself. And Doris carries out all his personal care. In recent months, his condition has deteriorated, and he has become very aggressive, swearing, and sometimes hitting out at Doris. Their GP has diagnosed him as having Alzheimer’s. Doris was diagnosed as having Depression 15 years ago and has a mental health worker. She copes well unless she becomes stressed and recently there have been episodes where she has heard voices. Their Neighbour assist with weekly shopping. The neighbour has raised concerns with Suzann about the poor standard of leaving and the frailty of both Doris and John. Their daughter in-law Suzann has done nothing about it the information. Last week the neighbour contacted Suzann to report his concerns. John had extensive bruising to his face and body and Doris has been missing her appointment has a result of lack of finical stability. There was a strong odour of urine and there were bundles of unwashed clothes stacked in the corner in the kitchen. Whenever the neighbour visited Doris, she stated that Suzann their Daughter in-law “controls” their finances and she has been too scared to ask her for money as when she has done so in the past, Suzann has shouted at her. Doris explained further that she needs money and Suzann said she will sort it out but has not done so to date.
