Building and Construction

Building and Construction

The scenario below is of a Building Contractor who is owed a considerable amount of money by his Client, who refuses to pay on the grounds that his work is not complete. There has been a complaint filed against you with the Office of Fair Trading. You have been notified that you will need to explain why you failed to complete a bathroom renovation as per the contract and scope of works. The Client informed you during the job that they would do the painting and it would not need to be done by you as the original scope of works indicated. You forgot to change the scope and get a signature for the variation at the time. Your Painter is also considering taking you to court for breach of sub contract obligations. Now the Client is saying that you did not finish as promised. Develop an organisational procedural document or policy that protects you from this occurring again.
