In general I have foundthe following problems with their assignments.Formatting:• Cover Page – from Word with your name and student details, the lecturer’s name,course/unit details, the assignment name and the date the assignment is due;• Paper – set to A4 in paper layout (NOT Letter);• Margins – all 2.5cm;• Page Numbering – start at 1;• Borders – do NOT use (except on Title Page);• Font – 11 or 12 , Times New Roman or Arial;• Alignment – left or fully justified;• Line Spacing – 1.5 with a space between paragraphs;• Language – English (Australia);• Spell Check;• Use Page Break – not the enter key to start a new page;• Each page should have a header with the name of the assignment;• Each page should have a footer with your name and student number as well as the pagenumber;• Headings and subheadings (Report Only) – use styles 1, 2 or 3; and• Table of Contents (Report Only) – automatically generated from Word.Structure:EssayNote – you generally do NOT use headings in an essay• Cover Page – from Word with your name and student details, the lecturer’s name,course/unit details, the assignment name and the date the assignment is due.• Introductiono General Statements; ando Thesis Statement.• Bodyo This is the longest part of the essay and should have as many paragraphs as yourequire to explain and support your thesis statement from the introduction;o Each Paragraph should have Topic Sentence; Support sentences; and Concluding Sentence.Assignments RequirementsBeverley Jones Version: April 2017 Page 2 of 6• Conclusiono This is where you re-state or summarize your key points;o No new data/facts should be introduced in this section; ando Plus make any final comments.• Reference Listo Any reference in this list should have been used as an intext reference source inyour essay; ando Any intext reference source that you have used should also be in this list.• Appendiceso Supporting information for you essay.ReportYou generally use heading and subheadings in a reportThe following is the order of the sections in the report• Cover Page – from Word with your name and student details, the lecturer’s name,course/unit details, the assignment name and the date the assignment is due.• Executive Summary (do NOT include this in your table of contents)o This is NOT an introduction – do NOT describe what you are going to do;o First sentence – should describe the topic or problem being studied;o A summary for your major findings; ando A summary of your major recommendations.• Table of Contentso Automatically generated from your Headings and Subheadings.• Introductiono This sections should state the problem being studied;o The purpose and scope of the report; ando The sources of information used.• Body (do not use Body as a heading – this section should have multiple Headings andSub Headings using styles 1, 2 or 3)o You should describe in detail the problem and the background;o You should describe the steps you took to investigate and solve the problem;o You should note in detail the data/facts collected; ando You should have an analysis of the findings you have made based on the dataand facts.• Conclusion and recommendationso This can be one or two sections;o The conclusion you make should be a consequence of the data/facts that youhave analysed in the body. Please check with your lecturer and/or the course (FedUni) and unit (MIT) descriptions.Under no circumstances are you to give your lecturer a hard copy of an assignment. We also do notaccept emailed copies of assignments. If you are having trouble uploading your assignment youshould first check with the IT Help Desk on Level 2.
