Influence of Structure
Organizational Structure of Ternary Software
For all the business firm’s having a defined structure of the organization is important to promote the actions of the employees and to provide systematic and quality services to the stakeholders. Without having a defined organizational structure, it is not possible for the business associates to utilize the available resources and accomplish the tasks in a systematic manner (Flynn, 2015). In this regards, Ternary Software has also introduced a new form of organizational structureof doing business with high democracy. In the organizational structure of the firm, there is flattered hierarchy.
The organizational structure of the firm is known as Holacracy, winch is evolved in this organization; where the highly democratic environment is given to the employees to operate. In this firm, different blocks are created for each employee for handling different roles, instead of a hierarchy and department(Holagh, Noubar&Bahador, 2014). For each block, defined organization governance process is given ad they follow their own policies and procedure to achieve the objectives and goals on individual level, this is highly independent environment, where everyone has liability to work in their own manner (An Interview with Brian Robertson: President of Ternary Software, Inc., 2006). This structure is introduced to make sure that the involvement of transparency agility and accountability to manage high efficiency in the work (Daft, 2012).
Four Structural Dimensions of Ternary Software
As the organizational structure of the firm is highly innovative and based on an extensive level of democracy, the dimensions of the organizational structure in Ternary Software are also different from the common dimensions. When an organization has a general structure, there are only two important dimensions such as structural and contextual dimensions. The structural dimension means varieties in the internal characteristics of a business organization, which defines the internal culture. Further, the contextual dimension allows the firm to measure the success of achievement of goals and objectives according to the size of the firm, use of technology and so on (Holagh, Noubar&Bahador, 2014).
On the other hand, the structural dimensions of Ternary Software are four such formalization, specialization, centralization and professionalism (Daft, 2012). The formalization dimensions facilitate the written specification of different process and programs in the firm. Different specifications are description about jobs, roles and duties, performance and rewards, manual and so on. The dimension of centralization comprises different level of authorities to make the decision making process. In this firm it is made by the employees or team to accomplish their roles and tasks (Flynn, 2015). In addition to this, professionalism structural dimension is associated with the training and development or education program in the firm offered to the employees.
Four Structural Dimensions of Ternary Software
All of these dimensions of the organization structure of Ternary Software at a high extent. The formalization dimension is used in the firm to offer different specifications and job description to the employees, so that they can understand their roles and responsibilities in the firm and make their individual decisions (Daft, 2012). In addition, Ternary Software provides written manual of rules to the employees to maintain a strong culture and promote high level of democracy. The dimension of specialization is used in the firm to differentiate the roles of each employee as per their specialization in different categories, so that different teams can be created to handle different tasks.
Further, the company uses decentralization dimension to delegate authorities to each person so that they can manage their work without having senior’s assistance. As the structure is based on high democracy and no hierarchy, each individual has some authorities in the firm (Holagh, Noubar&Bahador, 2014). Further, professionalism dimension is used in Ternary Software to make sure that individuals do not use the democracy in an illegal and unethical way and follow professionalism at a great extent to complete their tasks. In this regards the firm provided training and development programs to offer cultural understanding and ethics to maintain dignity and strong the culture of the firm (Flynn, 2015).
